Bands /Artists with over 100 tracks (in your library or on the whole)?
So really slow day in the office for me so feel free to ignore, tldr etc ….
Anyway, I was just routing through my google music account and got to thinking about this. It's obviously not reflective of that much and will be exceedingly weighted towards older more prolific bands/artists with large discographies.
But what do you over 100 track bands tell you, any suprises.
Bonnie Prince Billy – 169 (Surprised he’s topping the list, not really reflective of my tastes – I see a Darkness will probably always be in my top 10 albums of all time, Superwolf as it’s a collaboration doesn’t even count and that would be my second favourite but find a lot of just good nor great.)
Modest Mouse - 155 (thought these guys would be top of the list)
Sufjan Stevens – 150 (didn’t realise he’d be this high – probably all those chrimbo songs I grabbed trying to tempt the mrs in to an alternate indie Christmas)
Hood – 137 (great band)
The Boats – 131 (Most reflective of my listening over the last couple of years and my most recent band infatuation. [if you add on related acts, The Humble Bee, The Seaman and The Tattered Sail, Tape Loop Orchestra, The Misty’s it’s approaching 300 and but you’d also have to add Hood so over 425])
Damian Jurado – 125 (proper troubadour, proper haircuts etc)
John Vanderslice – 118
Apparat - 113
Max Richter – 112
De La Soul – 107
Squarepusher - 104
Why - 103
Casiotone for the Painfully Alone - 101
Olafur Arnalds / Nils Frahm /Tim Hecker and Pedro the Lion would all go over the 100 mark if I included their collaborations/Alternate names.
In the 90s – Built to Spill/ Fugazi/ Busdriver/ Chad Van Gaalen/ Tarwater/The National.
Surprised that bands like Pavement,Blonde Redhead, +/-, Grandaddy and Radar Bros don’t have more tracks. This is obviously a fairly anti post-rock thread – Gybe only have 18 easily obtainable songs. How may other prolific electronic(a) artists are there out there that break the 100 mark - Autechre?, maybe four tet, amon tobin. Is it more the territory of singer/songwriters or bands that have managed to stay together?
Overall quite nice to make a list that makes me feel a lot more Dis-Centric.
So who is eating up all your hard drive space?
