People telling you to "dance" at gigs
This happens to me from time to time. Most gigs I go to I don't dance. I'm not overly self-conscious or anything, it's just my personal preference and if I dance I often find it's at the expense of listening to the music in detail. But if the time and place is right, yeah I'll have a boogie. Not for boogie's sake though or to show everyone I'm "having a good time", but only if I fancy it.
So, Warpaint gig last night in Brighton (pretty dull really), I was just standing around, a little bit of head-nodding going on, some bro keeps jabbing me in the back and urging me to "loosen up". Also said that I looked "like a statue". I laughed in his face when he said this and then proceeded to ignore him, then he started exclaiming loudly to his mates that "there's no point in seeing a band if you're not going to dance". He was quiet after this and didn't really bother me, he wasn't aggro or anything, but it just left me a little perplexed.
Dunno, I'm quite tall I guess and my back goes straight when I stand up (good posture like), so maybe I am quite statue-esque. I don't give a shit about this per se, but how would one respond to these comments? I can't suddenly start dancing if I'm not feeling it, but just continuing to stand there ignoring this guy made me feel a bit like a joyless twat, as he was friendly about it, which I guess made it worse cos I couldn't justify punching him in the face.
