*ATTENTION RECORD COLLECTORS* I'm looking for a new turntable...
My record collection is expanding pretty quickly...I've been using my parent's huge 80's Sony system for about 2 years and I love it to death. It still plays pretty well and has a very crisp sound but after about 4 records the sound begins to drag and drone a bit which is infuriating. It's fine the following day but after more plays it does it again.
I'm planning on getting a new one but as I'm studying at the moment I have not got enough cash to spend more than £200 for everything including speakers and pre amp, etc. I found the Crosley Cruiser convenient as it has built in speakers and a really easy set up compared to other turntables. However, despite initial reviews being positive, several sites have categorically said 'Stay away from Crosley' and 'It will ruin your records'. I have gathered that this is a cheapo turntable for fickle hipster teens with about 4 records (Mumford, Ed Sheeran, Emeli Sande and maybe a Florence and the Machine record) and will probably forget about vinyl and move on after a couple of years. I want something that will produce a good sound, last longer than 2 or so years and won't damage my records.
After further research I have concluded that I can't get a decent turntable without spending £200+ as well as another £100 worth of extra shit so now I'm confused. Are there ANY decent, good quality turntables that cost under £200 and don't require a Masters to set up? I'm not too bothered about base quality but I want something that plays electronic music as well as it does guitar music.
Can anyone help me?
