Suggest song my lounge band should cover

Clayman [Edit] [Delete] 23:00, 18 June '14

Hey there, gents.

My name`s Dan, long time reader, first time poster. And I need an advice only the cool people like you could give.

I recently started a cover band that consists of me on upright bass, cajon, trumpet and a jazz girl on vocals. My aim is to play only the hookiest (and preferably new) songs using just those instruments, for some reason I get the weirdest kick playing the likes of Taylor Swift on upright and discovering all the real tunes hiding under that gloss and production. We already play songs like Pharrell`s Happy, Lorde`s Royals, some Lana Del Rey and so on. I also wanted to started giging as fast as possible, so I had to to add songs my players already knew - pop stuff too, but kinda old.
I tried to go through BBC Top 40, or Official Charts top 40, but it turns out half of the songs here are as bad as I thought (really, who listens to Pitbull?). So I need your advice guys, what songs would you suggest for my cover band? Or maybe not exactly songs, but overall directions, please? No Arcade Fire, but absolutely Jessie Ware, no Coldplay or Adele, but maybe Daft Punk?
