DiS Users June Album Of The Month.
The same rules/format as the previous months. Feel free to mention as many albums as you like but please make your one album of the month clear as it helps with tallying up the scores easier. Also, if you list a bunch of albums without specifying your favourite I'll take the first one mentioned as your album of the month unless otherwise stated. (Sorry to be such a pedant.)
My album of the month is Chrissie Hynde - Stockholm.
It was universally reviewed as being very average but I really have enjoyed it and have heard it more than any other release this month. It broke no ground and there's nothing new on it except good tunes. Perhaps a weak album of the month but I do like it.
The new First Aid Kit was good and probably my second favourite of the month. It sounds more polished and more mature than The Lion's Roar but wasn't quite in the same league as their previous for me. The Lion's Roar was my album of the year in 2012.
I was disappointed with the new The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart album. I loved their first two and despite repeated listens it just didn't click with me. (I have one e-ticket for their Scala gig on Thursday. If my £2.50 Arcade Fire tickets come through, someone here can have my TPOBPAT for free if they want).
Unfortunately my top two albums this month are very Radio 2 friendly and I hope to get some good/better recommendations from you guys here.
I'll keep this thread open until Sunday 6th July so you'll have six full days to listen to albums that are released today before making your choice. Some have mentioned that I should delay this AOTM thread until mid the following month so all albums have a fair chance of being listened to. Point taken and it does make sense but I'd rather keep this thread recent and relevant to the month of albums being reviewed.
As before, forgive any shameless bumps of this thread during the week. It'll be good to get as many votes as possible.
