I've been exploring a lot of electronic music recently and am quite interested in making some of my own, but I'm a complete novice as I'm sure you can tell! No idea what sort of tools people use to make this kind of music (thinking grime/bass stuff in particular).

Is there any free/cheap and readily available (i.e. not pirated) software that I could download to 'test the waters', as it were, to see if I'm any good at this kind of thing? Particularly interested in drum programming. Cheers team
