Crimes against music - Robson & Jerome
Years back when I worked in a small record shop I was stunned to see hoards of people buy certain records - almost like they were programmed to buy them. Upon release we must have sold a copy of Robson & Jerome's debut single at least every minute, maybe more. Phenomenally bad music, no ability or talent just a HUGE record label cash-in. If it was my shop (it wasn't) I honestly would have refused to stock the song(s). Their follow up singles and indeed albums also sold in MASSIVE quantities albeit on a sliding scale thankfully - they must have sold millions and millions, weird that their official VEVO YouTube channel has so few hits then?
Another example Whigfield - Saturday Night. Pre-release I must have been asked for the record (CD, cassette single, 12", 7" whatever at least 10 times an hour. When the record arrived on the Friday to sell the following Monday I listened to it as I closed the shop for the day. Again, utter garbage although it has held up better in terms of YouTube views / hits. Are some people crap music buying robots?
