- Nirvana - Pennyroyal Tea = "Alone in my town with everyone" rather than "I'm on my time with everyone." Would have been a brilliant lyric, though from mishearing it I thought they inspired the title of Richard Ashcroft's solo album "Alone with Everybody" :-/

- Pink Floyd - "Christmas Day, should we break in the mall?" - rather than "All in all you're just another brick in the wall." Fuck me gently with a chainsaw, that would have been the lyric to end the 70s and open the 80s with.
