DiS Users June 2015 Album Of The Month
**VOTE FOR TWO ALBUMS**
Vote for your favourite album and also runner up the album of the month. Make your selections clear please as it makes tallying up the scores easier. If you list a whole bunch of albums without making your selections clear I'll take the first two mentioned as 1st and 2nd place. Sorry to be a pedant.
Your album of the month will get two points and 2nd placed album one point. If you name only one album I'll give that two points.
I've noticed that on occasions there's a Facebook post of this thread. On a few occasions last year I think the Facebook votes changed the AOTM compared to votes here alone. If it's acceptable I'll only give Facebook people one vote which will only get one point. It's an attempt to weight the scoring heavier in the favour of DiS users that take the time and effort to vote and discuss the albums released rather than just naming/listing artists that I've seen on the FB post. Hopefully, the end result will much more reflect the opinions of actual DiS users.
Please forgive any shameless bumps of this thread during the week. I'll keep this thread open until Sunday 5th July and so you'll have nearly a week to listen to tomorrow's releases before choosing.
Vote now!! (Or later in the week) but make your 1st and 2nd choices clear please.
My choices:
1. Wolf Alice - My Love Is Cool
2. Jenny Hval - Apocalypse. Girl
The Wolf Alice album is one of the best albums of the year for me so far and probably the best debut album too. The album gets better with each listen and is just great fun.
I'd heard a couple of Jenny Hval tracks before the new album came out. The album was hard for me to get into but once it clicked it I thought it was terrific. Worth checking out if you haven't heard it yet.
I was lucky enough to see both Wolf Alice and Jenny Hval this month. Wolf Alice's set at Rough Trade was a brilliant rock performance. Jenny Hval's set at Café Oto was an hour of weird and quirky performance art which made for a great gig. Not what I was expecting and all the better for it.
