Funeral for a Friend Split
Haven’t listened to them properly in years, and even then just in revisits to the early stuff, but I’d be lying if I said this didn’t give me a little pang of sadness.
When I was a know-nothing kid just getting into indie rock, I thought Casually Dressed and Deep in Conversation was the best album ever.
Better than Fake Sound of Progress, better than Ideas Above Our Station. Maybe just about as good as Neon Handshake…
The videos all tied in together and, even in with the album artwork, which worked really cool-y with the then burgeoning music video channels. They seemed to have the world at their feet - even A listed on radio one as I recall.
I found the second album a bit meandering, and had grown out of them by the 3rd but I walked round town with Casually Dressed in my ears more days than I care to remember, and had some great times seeing them live.
So here’s to ‘em.
