A band I've always been aware of, partly due to Foo Fighters and Emo connections, but realised after seeing them top a couple "emo album" lists and a mention in Carrie Brownstein's book that I've never actually heard their seminal 'Diary' in full.
I rectified that this morning, and I must say I was pretty underwhelmed? 'In Circles' is a great song but I knew that anyway, but otherwise it feels like it's aged quite badly: the production is VERY early 90's and the songwriting seemingly bettered elsewhere. I get why it's important and influntial for it's time but it didn't really leave much impact on me.
