DiS Users May 2016 Album Of The Month
Vote for your favourite album and also your second and third choices. Make your selections clear please as it makes tallying up the scores easier. If you list a whole bunch of albums without making your selections clear I'll take the first three mentioned as 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. No joint positions please. Sorry to be a pedant.
Your album of the month will get three points, 2nd placed album two points and 3rd placed album one point. If you name only one album I'll give that three points. If you name two albums I'll score them with three and two points accordingly.
I've noticed that on occasions there's a Facebook post of this thread. On a few occasions in previous years I think the Facebook votes changed the AOTM compared to votes here alone. If it's acceptable I'll only give Facebook people one vote which will only get one point. It's an attempt to weight the scoring heavier in the favour of DiS users that take the time and effort to vote and discuss the albums released rather than just naming/listing artists that I've seen on the FB post. Hopefully, the end result will much more reflect the opinions of actual DiS users.
It's been a good month for album releases. I heard the new one by White Lung. It's good but I prefer their last album. I know it's had terrific reviews but it just hasn't clicked yet. The same for Car Seat Headrest, Again, amazing reviews and I like it but I much prefer last year's Teens Of Style which was one of my top 5 albums of the year. I'll listen to both again nonetheless. I'm seeing CSH next month at The 100 Club and am looking forward to it. The new Beth Orton album released today sounds pretty good too on first listen and I'll finally see her live at her Rough Trade East gig on Monday. I'll relisten to the albums I mentioned here and await more recommedations from you guys to see if I have a third place in my choices later. Two albums for me so far:
1. Adia Victoria - Beyond The Bloodhounds
2. Kate Jackson - British Road Movies
I hadn't heard of Adia Victoria before the review on Pitchfork. Its a great pop record with a hint of country too. The album works really well and there's not a bad song on it. Worth checking out.

A great comeback for Kate Jackson. I loved The Long Blondes' debut. I've enjoyed listening to her new one hugely. Really looking forward to seeing her live next week. I only saw The Long Blondes once about ten years ago.
Please forgive any shameless bumps of this thread during the week. I'll keep this thread open until Sunday 5th June and so you'll have over a week to listen to today's releases before choosing.
Vote now!! (Or later in the week) but make your choices clear please.
