Bands wanted for weekend shows

JohnMcCooke [Edit] [Delete] 17:07, 12 June '08

Dear all, I need bands for weekend shows at The Good Ship. The shows are promoted inhouse which means that we do not have the benefit of an outside promoter's social and fan circle, however we always get a walk in crowd anyway of at least 30 and sometimes up to 100. We'd prefer to ask you to not have to bring people but to maintain the atmosphere we are used to we only want to hear from bands that can absolutely attract at least 25 fans on a Friday and 30 on a Saturday and want to be part of the collective experience, ie bands who listen to the other bands, want to be on a bill that has some thought and cohesion in it. All the door money after a small sound cost goes to the bands, we think bands should have a good set, atmosphere and be paid. If you would like to play and we like the sounds but you can not reach those numbers then we may be able to find something during the week.

We seek all sorts of bands but as an indicator some of my favourite bands are The Pogues, MBV, Arab Strap, Mercury Rev, Nick Cave, Kate Bush and The Byrds. We'd prefer quite a variety, bands with keyboards and brass sections are usually good, bands with females are good as there are never enough, ambitious bands I always like. You get the general idea.
