You need to know your way round an analogue synth. I've lots of them so you don't really need your own but it would be handy. Be able to play it live. But none of this Rick Wakeman style nonsense of playing millions of notes in quick succession. Atmospheres is what I'm after. A single note in the right place is better than a hundred all over the shop.
