Drummer seeking new projects - Wigan/Manchester

Rik_WAFC_Wigan [Edit] [Delete] 01:59, 11 June '11

Hello,

I am a drummer based in Wigan. Been playing for around about 8 years. I've been in a band called Samuel Sharp for the past 5/6 years, however, its died on its arse a bit (still going though) and I would like to explore other projects. I'm 23 and I just want to saturate myself in playing lots of music (preferably good music) before I have to "settle down" and erect a white picket fence in front of my towering mansion.

I'm sick of tapping/slidey up and down the threat board math rock/pop stuff (Maps & Atlases et al.) and obviously post-rock (Explosions in the Sky et al.) so none of that, sorry.

I think I would like to do something a bit more pop(ee) but still quite angular. Sort of like Parts & Labour, Deerhoof, Animal Collective, The Mae Shi.

I have a practise room we could use for free here in Wigan. I don't have a car and I can't drive.

I would like someone who has a fair bit of experience/know-how already and is pretty competent on their instrument. The reason is I can't be fucked with someone who still has the mentality of a 16 year old talking about how he can shred to Jason Becker records.

What I'm hearing in my head: some distorted synths, lots of effects, fucking wierd sounding guitars, shouting/screaming/lovely/harmonies, chainsaw guitars like in the Jesus Lizard.

Sorry if I've come across sounding like a pretentious stuck-up twat but I'll be honest with you theres a shed load of crap musicians out there so I wanna try and filter them out.

Obviously dedication and that real burning desire to create some great SONGS (not just twiddley intricate stop-start stuff), songs that stay with you forever. Think about some Radiohead tunes that combine all the sounds playing into one cohesive piece of music. Sections developing in a fluid natural manner.

Anyway, you can have a listen to me playing on the link here - www.myspace.com/samuelsharpnoise

Drop me an email and I'll check your shizz out (if you don't have any shizz it might be problematic).

Email: wolland164@hotmail.com

Thanks!!
