Looking to join a band in the Whitby area

Jon_ [Edit] [Delete] 10:22, 18 July '16

It's a pretty remote place so I'm not holding out much hope, but here goes...

I play guitar & bass and want to start or join a band with the intent of playing in pubs and that. Not after a 'career' band, just something that will be fun and get me back into gigging again.

If you need a guitarist:
- Jimi Hendrix, John Frusciante sort of sound (I just use a cheap strat and a single channel amp with no pedals)
- I've been playing for about 30 years and can hold my own (I'm 35)
- Whilst my playing is bluesy/roots/country, I don't necessarily want to be in ponderous 12-bar blues band
- I like stuff like Nick Cave, Spaghetti Western soundtracks, Hendrix, Chris Isaak, Elvis Costello, Iggy Pop, Tarantino soundtracks. I also like a lot of 70s and 80s glam/hair metal, although my current set-up isn't really suited for it
- Open to other options

If you need a bassist:
- I've got decent gear and can play pretty much anything
- I will play anything fun that allows me to play in a pub for money and/or beer

Would be interested in some sort of vampire/pirate/surf/horror thing if anybody has any good ideas (bit of a long shot).
