i have just joined this as i keep getting requests to do so with uni mates being on it etc

i have had a friend request from a girl i have never heard of or dont know? is this normal. is it a facebook tradition to add her as a friend? ask her who she is? or just ignore it? I cant even see who she is on her photo as its so small
