How football transfers work

stabby3 [Edit] [Delete] 15:06, 1 July '07

did anyone see Sport Saturday yesterday on Sky Sports News?

They had a general sports panel that included footy agent Barry Silverman and Brian Laws - our manager (Sheffield Wednesday) and they were talking about how a transfer happens.

I didn't realise the Chief Executive played such an important role in transfers. The manager isn't involved in any negotion whatsoever. It's just the manager going 'I want X-player' to the Chief Executive and then he works out an offer to go to the agent/club with that works within their budget.

The only role the manager has is (when the club X-player is from says they'll listen to offers) to convince them to come to the club.

All mega interesting stuff.

Pisses on Football Manager's interpretation.
