So for the past few months, whenever I've gone down to our kitchen in the night time [say 10pm to 4am], the floor has been covered with about thirty [at least], very large, very icky slugs. My mother refuses to believe they exist. But they do. And they make getting water an extremely difficult task. I don't understand how they could have got in - our kitchen is quite raised from garden level - but anyhow there's actually an army of them. I'm concerned they may be plotting to conquer the sitting room. I've built up a little barricade, but they probably have the combined strength of a small human. No joke. It makes me feel almost at ease with the Bathroom Spiders and Patio Ants.

Are kitchen slugs a common thing? How do I get them to die, without them making a massive icky mess all over the floor? I heard salt makes it kind of gross. Should I call in an exterminator? Can they exterminate slugs? Does it make for bad karma?
