Summercat doesn't understand the whole patriotic aspect. Every year we go through this. Every year I try to explain. I try to tell her about the Boston tea party and the Stamp Act, about the freedoms she enjoys today because of her kittycat forefathers. I tell her the beach-goers from Arizona parking in our driveway are not bad people even though clearly they are, but no... Just a bunch of loud noises to her.
