How would it impact on society?

My mate reckons that one of the most convincing arguments for doing away with cash is that it would make things massively inconvenient for drug dealers. I'm thinking this isn't true in the slightest. Surely they could quite easily figure out ways of electronically transfering funds and digitally laundering it in some way?

Is it likely that we will live in a cashless society any time soon?
