Is Trainspottingthe most overrated film ever?

prole-art-threat [Edit] [Delete] 10:30, 23 July '07

sorry a bit 'last century' of me but I was watching some semi-interesting blah with Mark Kermode on Saturday (yes yes I know it was the Culture show), and it was quite a valid progamme until they ran out of 'famous areas where films were, erm filmed' (which was the prog's premise)and started getting a bit frothy about 'Trainspotting' and it brought back all the memories of how this film was meant to be the best thing ever to ever have happened ever awesomedude.

I remember leaving the cinema feeling like I'd wet myself at the dentists or something yet one of my friends said he was 'breathless' - as we were young I assumed it wasn't a heart attack - because he thought it was so good, but really, isn't it just a sum of its parts of its time and nothing else - what do you think/care/kate nash in the Observer?

Shallow Grave on the other hand is much better.
