There was an article in the Times on Saturday about how difficult it is when your parents die, even if you're grown up - and that being an orphan, even in your 30s plus, still isn't any easier, but that people don't give you enough grieving time and/or sympathy. The most frequently asked question being 'how old was s/he?' - like, if they're 72/82, that makes it alright, because they had a good innings. Well no, it doesn't make it alright really does it?

Anyway, interesting article. The writer said that she would've found it much easier to cope with if she'd found a letter from her mother/father in their personal belongings just for her - a final few kind words.

It may seem morbid but it did make me wonder, if I get run over by a bus tomorrow, it might ease the grief of friends/family if they had a note each - something proper to hold onto that made them laugh out loud and feel better about things.

Has anyone else ever done similar? Or do actions speak louder than words, and it would be a bit of a waste of time?
