I kinda miss nu-metal

TheSoundofBastards [Edit] [Delete] 12:47, 7 August '07

On seeing some 'action blockbuster' type films recently which featured some nu-metal during fight scenes, I realised I actually quite miss the most maligned of musical genres.

Big shorts, 5-string basses, bad rapping, worse facial hair, entirely superflous DJs, monkey noises, revolving drumkits.. makes emo/nu-rave/poshcore etc seem a bit dull by comparison. I remember the days of every other kid in college having a papa roach hoody, and those lame studded wristband things.

I may make a nu-metal band. Called Chokeslam. We'd have a fat bassist, naff digital effects for the verse, and a middle-8 you can do the running man to. It'd be totally rad.

I think my favourite nu-metal memory was glimpsing Slipknot at the signing tent at Reading Festival, and singing the circus theme at the clown. He just tilted his head in a 'spooky' manner. What's your fave nu-metal related memory?
