Sorry for the boring thread but I could really do with some advice on how to get around this situation.

I need to travel from Leeds to Edinburgh, leaving on Friday nights and coming back Sunday. There seem to be several things standing in my way:

a. trains are fucking expensive at this time
b. there's engineering work on Saturdays and Sundays seemingly for the next forever so trains are REALLY limited :(

So, if you've got this far, any ideas on how I can get round this and spend a decent amount of time in Edinburgh and not pay shitloads of money? :(
