So, what do you do when British Gas keep calling you insisting you owe them about £400, when you don't even have an account with them and have no idea where they got your number? My last flat had pre-pay gas and electricity. They've been calling me intermittently every few weeks or so and I thought they'd just go away in the end, but they called me eight times yesterday between about 10 am and 8 pm. I'm just ignoring their calls now, but they called me again and woke me up at about 7.30 this morning! It's starting to get ridiculous.

When I explain to them that I'm not even their customer, they tell me to ring some other number and give them the details of my meter and stuff. I've moved house! I couldn't even if I was remotely prepared to. I've just stopped answering the calls, and I've 'only' had about three today. They'll go away eventually, right?

Can they actually do anything to me? I mean all they have is my name and phone number (fuck knows how, I can't believe I gave it to them!). It's not like they even know my address, so they can't cut me off or send bailiffs. Right?
