The "Hawkins Technique"

theguywithnousername [Edit] [Delete] 15:14, 16 October '07

I work in a psychology outpatients department arranging for patients experiencing depression, anxiety etc. to come in for assessments to see if they would benefit from treatment within our service.

Recently, due to being snowed under with work, I've left it several weeks before phoning some people to arrange appointments and, in the interim time, the patient has made a full recovery and no longer needs to be seen. Hence by doing my job incompetently I am in fact curing the sick. I consider the process of leaving the patient alone and failing to offer help to be a method of psychological treatment in itself and have chosen to name it the Hawkins Technique.

Has anyone else noted positive results from their own incompetence in the workplace?
