Everyone seems to have a story about what they were 'almost' called (usually just before the dad eventually caved in to the mother's choice).

Having been born on Guy Fawkes Day, apparently there was a large push by my grandparents to name me the rather literal name 'Guy'.

Thankfully my mother, perhaps remembering that they named her Dorothy, realized they weren't much cop at choosing names and resisted, and so I received 25% less playground beatings than I would otherwise have received had I been called Guy.
