Why are some people so very needy and need attention and the company of others all the time? Do they find themselves so very boring/annoying? Why be so dependent on others to achieve a basic happiness?

Alternatively, are they just normal social beings? Is it more the case that people like me who consider themselves quite self-sufficient and are able to enjoy their own company sometimes are just massive autistic anti-social freaks?
