'Modern Learning Methods'

wrightylew [Edit] [Delete] 20:08, 17 October '07

For the first time in my college career, I got really furious this morning.

We were in English Language, analysing the Lord's Prayer.

Now, apart from my initial dislike towards the nit-picking tendencies of the subject (where we'll spend about ten minutes looking into the use of a word like "pussycat"), the teacher seems hell-bent on KEEPING HIS STUDENTS FOCUSED.

To do this, he gives us coloured pieces of card, and tells us to write down little snippets of things. Also, he ALWAYS puts us in groups. He gives us clay and stuff, and tells us to mould our point using the clay as a sort of physical demonstration.

And its soooooooo condescending. I really wish he'd just stand at the front, tell us about something we should point out in the exam, and then make us answer questions out of a textbook - this is how I learn.

It seems like the entire class is aimed at making retards enjoy themselves. I find it disgusting that as one of the top students in the class, my result is going to be jeapordised because of the fact my teacher wants people to 'enjoy' his classes.

The fact is: 'group work' is pointless. Its basically an excuse for stupid people to leech off the clever people's ideas, then show the teacher how intelligent they are. The teacher then thinks, 'Oh, how well this retard has worked. I must do this more often.'

Go back to the old way.

PS. And while you're at it, bring back the cane.

PPS. He basically is Kenneth Williams from Carry On films, if that helps.
