Did you see any films this weekend?

thephotobooth [Edit] [Delete] 12:07, 24 October '07

I saw Control, which was incredible, the best film I've seen all year. The shots of Manchester are beautiful, and even though everyone knows the end of the story, they kept the tension well.

Then saw La Vie En Rose, which I know has been out ages, but we've only just got it at work, but that too was great. The actress playing Edith Piaf was monumentally talented, and should be nominated for an Oscar, she manages to play her equally proficiently at the time of her death as during her early twenties. And I had no idea Piaf was so wild, she's like the 30s Winehouse.

Then Rendition, which, from the advert, looked really tense and exciting, but the film was SO slow, quite boring, and at times, quite incoherent. The time "twist" was predictable, and didn't quite have the revelatory "OH! I get it!" effect that I think it was supposed to. Reese Witherspoon was good in it though.

Next week: I may quit my job if they make me watch Saw 4...most of the staff at the cinema are under 18 so can't watch it/usher it in etc. It looks disgusting, as does 30 Days of Night.

What did you see this week/what are you going to see this week?
