I saw this on Saturday also. I've never read the book and this was the first time I'd seen the film.

Surely pigs' blood wouldn't stay liquid for that long? Did King totally cock up on that or does the film screw with the time line? He's normally a better writer than that, though I guess it's an easy mistake to make.
