two agony DiS type events occured to me in the space of 5 minutes about an hour back

1) ex-girlfriend from aaages ago gets in touch, is very vague about who she is (phone no longer carries her number) and makes me guess. Eventually i figure it out. She says ah, you know we should meet up sometime, it would be nice

then

2) while on the electoral canvas trail for the Council's election department, I knocked on a door, and was confronted by a japanese girl dong her best to uphold the J-Pop ideal (pig tails, schoolgirl esque mini skirt etc) and, after filling in my form* asked me if I wanted to come in for a cup of tea. I declined because I'm not supposed to. She said 'oh well you have nice hair' (her English was only at about 80%, I might have been wrong about the whole episode) so I said 'and you have a nice skirt' which was probabl daft. Se smiled and the door was closed.

there's no real point to this. Except that the experience of 2 was timely in order to stop me thinking seriously about the proposal in 1, and that I'm a fucking idiot for not taking that offer of tea....
