Philosophy

doctornovocalcords [Edit] [Delete] 14:59, 28 November '07

Did anyone study this at university or outside of it? I really wish I had although I think I would have struggled as I get too caught up in certain ideas and my own thinking.
Does it have any use in day-to-day existence or is it simply an intellectual cul-de-sac? They do say it at least teaches you how to think in a logical way even if the content isn't useful per se.

What philosophical works would you recommend for the untrained reader? I have read and enjoyed Schopenhauer, Kierkegaard and Freud. Wittgenstein made no sense at all to me.

Who are your favourite philosophers? I would say Schopenhauer (he writes clearly and is a miserable bastard), Mr Miyagi and Peter Ustinov.
