Seriously - this is a new one for me. Last night I got woken up at 3am by the house dog (a basset) howling - like really loudly. I thought there was an intruder in the house. One housemate was dead to the world passed out snoring (drunk) and the other, it transpires, was too scared to go downstairs to investigate what was going on (found this out this morning) although she had been woken up too by the dog howling.

It turns out the hound was sitting near the front door, howling in his sleep. Cue me trying to placated the hound like it was some three year old child. No intruders, no forced entry. And a dog howling.*

*If you have ever heard a basset howl, you will understand just how loud and distressing it is...

Crazy.

What would a dog have nightmares about?? Seriously... Any thoughts?
