Help - I'm kind of estranged from this person these days and we seem to have less and less in common as time goes on. However I know quite a few mutual friends of mine will go, and if I don't, I'll be frowned upon. Also, it's a themed bday which kind of makes me *blurgh* a bit.

I feel ridiculous asking this at my age but yeah - I always seem to get roped into doing these things when half the time I really really REALLY don't want to.
