A friend of someone I work with had a pet snake. It started growing freakishly large and no longer fitted it's cage, so until she'd saved up for a bigger one, she was just letting it roam about her bedroom and it slept in her bed at night. It stopped eating and after a couple of weeks she took it to the vet, who suggested it could be getting food from elsewhere, eating mice or something and told her to visit a reptile specialist if it continued to worry her. Which she did. When she told him that it slept streched out along side her in bed, he told her that the poor snake needed to be put down. Because (get this..) it was measuring itself against her and starving itself so that it could strangle and eat her whole!!
