She's on her year abroad, and she's really really really not happy, and I'm not sure what to say to help her - I don't know what to suggest she does to sort things out.

ANYWAY there's no way I could explain what's been going on BUT I thought maybe you lovely people might have some links/jokes/anecdotes for me to pass on as I feel like a fool sitting here in near silence, I just don't know what to say :( :(
