Regular readers of my posts may recall my oft-repeated statement that "I am going to get a double bass. Really. I am. Tomorrow. I have the money. I'm going to do it!"

And I never do.

And until now I've contented myself with the fact that I'm not a megabucks earning investment banker with money to just throw away, I just can't afford it.

But the real reason is that I can't bring myself to spend all that money on just one item. Regardless of the fact that I'd probably treasure it for the rest of my life then and be buried with it.

But that day has now arrived. I am looking at the instrument now. I have the funds. I have the motivation (in the form of a desire to win the 'What's the most expensive thing you've ever bought' thread) and dammit, I just really want one.

I'M GOING TO DO IT!
