Lunch with Prole: people putting their music in alphabetic order

prole-art-threat [Edit] [Delete] 13:38, 4 March '08

I tried this once when I was about 12 and had only about 10 albums/no girlfriend/friends but really truly isn't this just a bit anal? I've got about 8000 albums on cd, vinyl cassette and how much non-life would I need to have in order to ensure I know exactly where either say 'Frankenchrist' by the Dead Kennedys is or 'In Debt' by Disco Inferno or whatever?

The fun of flicking through or rummaging and suddenly realising you've just found something you thought you'd lost/lent out/never had is surely more exciting than mechanically going to E-H in order to satisfy your 'aural pleasure' - to me this thing about alphabetic order of music only really works on i-tunes which is a different consideration altogether and warrants its own LwP.

(awaits 'youre wrong' and replies from 'autistic' geeks who aren't really autistic, about how its important to be able to access 'Please Hammer Don't Hurt Them' by MC Hammer at a minute's notice)

THis also reminds me a sketch on Monkey Dust featuring a Toby who in turn turns down sex with his girlfriend, her sister and her sister's friend because he's staying in and "cataloging my CDs and I've only got as far as 'Rio' by Duran Duran"
