Rubbish, innit?

I learned:

Daniel Day Lewis is indeed good at shouting/smouldering with rage silently. Plus working down an oil well tends to end with you getting your head caved in. Nothing else to report.

You don't feel any sympathy for/empathy with the characters and there is no story of interest (a cold, heartless man becomes slightly more cold and heartless over a period of time. Great!). What an empty, empty film. Very disappointing.
