Hello, I know there's seemingly a Berlin thread every other week these days, but I also know that there's a fair few people who know about the city :)

ANYWAY

Myself and the girlfriend are going in mid-April and we're currently looking into places to stay.

We've decided that, as we're on a budget, we're looking for an apartment where we can cook our own food.

A lot of the ones we have found are in the Prenzlauer Berg area of the city - what's this area like? Is it easy to get to the centre from (on foot and by public transport)? Anything else I should know?
