The BBC programme about Enoch Powell

wrightylew [Edit] [Delete] 17:16, 12 March '08

I'm currently watching it on BBC iPlayer.

I'm quite surprised at how objective it is. Its definitely something I applaud from the film-makers. Obviously, there's the odd little bit that makes you chuckle, like the way they play sinister music (ie. the music taken from the ultra-violent scenes in 'Clockwork Orange') over clips of people who supported him and joyful stuff over the ones who opposed, but on the whole, its been a good show.

Personally, I don't know what to think of him. While I'd say his speech was often very out of order ('wide-grinned picaninies' for instance), wouldn't things like 7/7 and the riots suggest his predictions have been affirmed to some extent?
