Scottish tramp stereotypes in London

prole-art-threat [Edit] [Delete] 15:16, 13 May '08

Now of course Im not casting aspersions on a whole nation but today whilst loafing at lunch in a park opposite Waterloo I noted a gentlemen wayfarer approaching with a giant kit bag and a bruise blue can of tumour lager and thought for a second ‘I wonder if he’s Scottish’, when lo and behold he answered my question by clearing three eighths of the park by asking, well demanding a ‘”cig’rette and somewheer to sit mnove over big y’in, bastards no wheer t’sit yeah, shit and bastard them this and focking that see youse English poofs yeah” etc etc, whilst wobbling around and generally ruining everyone’s lunch with his angry pointfree gestures. My question is this realy – what happened to the charmingly abject tramps you read about in Orwell’s Down & Out in Paris & London and would Orwell ‘in character’ have approached getting alms of sorts in such an arse faced aggressive way? And really is every tramp in London and angry Scott with an attitude problem?

Apologies in advance to Scottish users/charmingly abject long dead London wayfarers
