LwP: People who think its 'cool' to have gay mates

prole-art-threat [Edit] [Delete] 13:56, 22 May '08

I've never understood this - be friends with people becaused they're warm, witty and fun to be around, not because of their sexuality.

This always annoys me so much. I had a friend at school who was gay (in fact another one has 'come out' but we sort of knew he would be since) and really I don't think I would have cared either way as I liked them both as one was very funny and the other was really pretentious but I'd be horrified if I'd been friends with them because it gave me kudos - to be fair 'knowing' gay people in Somerset in the late 80s early 90s would be like running Ian huntley's fanclub from a garage in Soham so perhaps I've just answered my own question.

Also not wanting to be sexist but I think this is something more that certain types of straight women do - there's probably a really sexist and almost homophobic reason for this but really, just like people for what they are not because there's a 'kudos caveat'.

RULES/ATP/something to do with space but from a Sky TV angle.
