Football Thread: An interesting Point About the Scottish Premier League.

justanothersheeldz [Edit] [Delete] 15:58, 23 May '08

Celtic have just won their third title on the bounce. But, when talking to guys in the office, it became clear that while 3 is impressive, it was very nearly 8 in a row.

Celtic won in 2000-2001 with 16 points clear.
Celtic won in 2001-2002 with 18 points clear.
Celtic lost in 2002-2003 by 1 goal in goal difference.
Celtic won in 2003-2004 with 17 points clear.
Celtic lost in 2004-2005 by 1 point.
Celtic won in 2005-2006 with 17 points clear (of Hearts, Rangers coming a point behind them).
Celtic won in 2006-2007 with 12 points clear.
Celtic won in 2007-2008 with 3 Points clear.

Pretty close you might say. I remember some saying after Walter Smith did 9in a row there was no chance of it happening again... yet here we are only 1 point and 2 goals away from it have potentially happening again.

This is more a pointing out exercise rather than a Rangers fan-baiting thread...
