I think I'm getting fired. (shouldibeproactive?-centric)

alley [Edit] [Delete] 03:40, 13 June '08

I've been kind of late to work lately, and today was really bad as I had a last minute instruction to clean the house for the landlord to show people round today, so had to do that before I left blah blah blah. Anyway, I called ahead and my boss was pissed, naturally, especially with my other combined lates, and when I got to work there was a "Help Wanted" sign in the window. I suspect I'm getting fired once they find that help. Should I resign now so that I can have "resigned" on my resume, which yes, would make a significant difference, or should I hold out in case *maybe* they're not going to fire me? They didn't say anything about taking on an additional person, though, so I'm really sure it's a replacement.

Alternatively, I could wait until I'm sure they're firing me (i.e., when they say so) and make an offer of a deal where we just say I resigned, and then I get to count it as a resignation and they get to keep their unemployment insurance at the same level. I think my boss might genuinely go for this.

So, who's been here? Also, am I wrong to be amused by the whole them not telling me but putting a sign in the window thing?
