strangers who feel the need to start conversation with me

inside-outside [Edit] [Delete] 14:32, 16 June '08

i dunno if i look supremely approachable, im pretty sure i dont. But i keep getting strangers coming up to me, predominantly derelicts, old smellies, drunks, middle aged women and the elderly in the early morning, and speaking to me. This is unacceptable. If im reading a book at the bus stop in the morning and a stinking old man sits next to me, the last thing i want is for him to read the book over my shoulder while telling me about his recent oral examination.
Nor do i want to be accosted in the queue for a vegan cafe by an over opinionated woman demanding my urgent help with all of her community projects, then after being politely declined deciding to sit with us and convince us otherwise. I kept telling her 'im leaving in a week and never coming back' (true) but this silly slag wouldnt shut up.

my question is thus: who are these people and why do they impose themselves on unexpecting and unwilling victims. do they know we dont like it?
