Man, 60 stole porn mags.

A MORECAMBE man was fined £136 for stealing adult mags from Pedder Street News.
Peter Stiff, of West End Road, concealed the magazines in a plastic bag and left the town centre newsagent's without paying but his crime was spotted by staff.

Stiff, 60, was then pursued by the shop manager around Morecambe town centre until he was arrested in the Winter Gardens car park.

Gary Wood, prosecuting, told Lancaster Magistrates' Court: "(Stiff) left the Lord Nelson pub after asking the manager for a carrier bag, then went to Pedder Street News."

The defendant picked up some adult magazines and a staff member, whose suspicion was aroused, moved further down the shop to keep an eye on him. Mr Wood said when the shop manager arrived, staff were momentarily distracted and this allowed Stiff to make his getaway.

Stiff denied the offence initially but pleaded guilty in court. "I'd had six or seven pints, it was my own stupid fault," Stiff told the court.

"I don't remember putting them in my bag but I've got to accept the consequences."
