I have an eight week old kitten sitting here on my stomach. He's fairly new to the house, and I'm suspicious of him

He just doesn't ever do anything. He never seems excited, or inquisitive. He hasn't played once, and I literally haven't heard a peep out of him in over a week

At what age are kittens supposed to start doing stuff? Is it like children, where they're actually quite boring until they get to about two?
